Originality is scarce in music, movies, and television alike. Thank God we have Laguna Beach.

Too many people, in too many places, too many times, take things they hear and see and make them the primary points of their lives. People have ceased thinking for themselves, even living for themselves. Some people rely on others lives' to entertain their own.

The mind is a powerful tool, perhaps the most powerful and sophisticated thing known to man, yet people constantly dumb themselves down with the things they surround themselves with. For this reason, the only thing I enjoy doing at night is engulfing myself in a sea of philosophy books. We all know rock music is clearly the work of Satan himself, and that television rots your brain. So based on the countless studies and various pieces of evidence we have to prove these points, I decide to use books as my chief source of entertainment.

Although I am aware of the hazardous health risks of watching television, I am one to live life on the edge, so I enjoy the occasional television show.

That being said, I've always found shows like "The Real World" a bit peculiar. I figure, "Why watch these people go to the club, when I could just go to the club myself?"

Same with the MTV show "Next". I ask myself, "Why go on a bus with a few strangers in hopes to attract the attention of a special someone who I can spend some quality time with and either (A) Find an everlasting soulmate in them to accompany me on the rest of my journey through life, or (B) Be immediately 'nexted' by them because they didn't like my hairstyle, hence winning $1." Instead of the next bus, I could just ride the yellow bus to NDP and try my luck with the freshmen girls.

So with so many mediocre shows furnishing my television, it is nice to know there is still a quality show like Laguna Beach on the lineup.

Packed to the brim with both drama and humor, Laguna Beach always leaves me lusting for one more episode. I love watching best friends share experiences through parties, relationships, and bittersweet graduation ceremonies. Some people think that Laguna Beach is full of a ton of stuck up pricks, but I really feel that these characters have more depth to them. If you aren't a fan of Laguna Beach, give it one more shot. Under the tacky sunglasses, expensive designer clothing, and a whole hell of a lot of makeup, you will see that these are genuinely great people, starring in a great TV show.
